Susan Lisa Ungar, M.D. received her degree from State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn and subsequently completed dual residencies in Dermatology and Pediatrics at the SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn, respectively. Dr. Ungar is board certified in both Pediatrics and Dermatology.
Dr. Ungar is on staff at Mt. Sinai Medical Center and NSUH at Plainview and Syosset. In addition to her clinical appointments, Dr. Ungar maintains a number of professional affiliations. She is an active member of the following organizations:
Dr. Todd Coven earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He went on to an Internship in the Department of Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, and a Fellowship in the Laboratory for Investigative Dermatology at Rockefeller University in New York. Dr. Coven continued his training with a Residency in the Department of Dermatology of New York Presbyterian Hospital – Cornell Medical Center in New York. He then completed a Mohs Surgery Fellowship at New York University School of Medicine.
A Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Academy of Mohs Micrographic Surgery & Cutaneous Oncology, Dr. Coven is affiliated with both Mouth Sinai Hospital and Huntington Hospital. He is an active researcher and has published numerous clinical journal articles in his field. Additionally, Dr. Coven serves as Treasurer of the Suffolk County Dermatology Society.
The Center for Aesthetic Dermatology is pleased to introduce our new associate, Elizabeth Femenia, RPA-C. She is a Certified Physician Assistant (PA). Physician assistants are medical providers formally trained to practice medicine with physician supervision. Physician assistants have been practicing with dermatologists for twenty years, providing a wide variety of services, including diagnosing illness, writing prescriptions, ordering and interpreting lab tests, wound suturing, and medical or surgical treatment of a wide variety of clinical pathology. All physician assistants are legally and ethically bound to practice only with supervision by their employing physician.
Ms. Femenia received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The College of William and Mary. She received a graduate degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. She finished top of her class and received Cornell’s Award for Clinical Excellence. Ms. Femenia has been a board certified P.A. since 2001, working exclusively in the fields of Mohs surgery and dermatology.
Ms. Femenia’s education does not stop there. To remain certified, she must complete 100 hours of continuing medical education (CME) every two years and pass a national recertification examination every six years. Ms. Femenia has over six years experience in treating acne, contact dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, warts, and skin cancer. We plan to take advantage of these skills in our practice.
