Plastic surgery can not only change your appearance but can also boost your self-confidence
and help you look as young as you feel. Whether you want to reshape your nose
or breasts, smooth wrinkles and tighten sagging skin, remove excess fat, or
correct a problem resulting from surgery, birth defects or the effects of aging,
the wide array of procedures available at our office can help you achieve the
appearance you desire.
Liposuction
Liposuction
surgery is performed to actually remove unwanted localized deposits
of fat cells from the body. The procedure is meant for body contouring.
It is not a treatment for obesity or cellulite. The result is a re-sculpting
of bulging areas into more attractive contours.
Tumescent Technique
With the tumescent technique, large volumes of saline solution, local anesthesia, and adrenaline are infused into the fatty area being treated to cause swelling. This enables your surgeon to maneuver a small instrument called a cannula, connected to a vacuum machine, superficially under the skin.
By doing the procedure purely under local anesthesia,
all the major risks of liposuction are minimized.
Dr. Sklar studied liposuction with the
inventor of the tumescent technique and teaches liposuction at Columbia
Presbyterian Hospital in the cosmetic surgery clinic.
Abdominoplasty
A "tummy tuck, or an abdominoplasty, can significantly
enhance your appearance and self-confidence. The procedure involves
the removal of excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tightening
the muscles of the abdominal wall. People with major weight loss
and women after multiple pregnancies often lose their abdominal skin
elasticity. A consultation can determine if liposuction or abdominoplaty
would be the best procedure for you.

Face Lift
Aging of the face is inevitable, and with time
the face loses volume and the skin of the face and neck
loosen. Age, sun exposure, gravity, and genetics all contribute
to skin changes. As the aging population
grows, it is no wonder why facelifting has become the third most
performed facial cosmetic procedure.
Eyelid Surgery
Droopy
upper eyelids and puffy bags under the eyes can make you look older
and more tired than you feel. Blepharoplasty or
eyelid surgery is the most commonly performed facial plastic surgical
procedure. By removing small amounts of excess skin and fat
one can transform the eyelid region to a more youthful and refreshed
look. The procedure can be performed in the office under local
anesthesia or IV sedation, if preferred. For the right candidate,
it is probably the most minor surgery that can give the most major
improvement to the face.
Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty can change the size of your nose,
take off a hump, change the shape of the tip, narrow the span of
the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper
lip. It may also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve
some breathing problems by straightening the septum. There are so
many possible ways to change the appearance of the nose that it is
important that you have a specific idea of what you would like corrected.
By removing, adding, or changing the position
of the cartilages, bones and soft tissue, your desired nose shape
can be achieved.

Brow Lift
A forehead lift or "browlift" is a procedure
that restores a more youthful, refreshed, and cheery look to the
forehead, eye brows and upper eyelid areas. By removing excess skin
and muscle, the procedure corrects drooping
brows, improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make you
look angry, sad or tired, and tightening the skin of the upper eyelid.
The incisions are well hidden along the frontal hairline or in the
hair, and with the use of an endoscope (a small camera that allows
the procedure to be performed with minimal incisions), the incisions
are almost impossible to see. The particular type of incision to
be used will be discussed during your consultation. Also, a forehead
lift is often performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)
or a facelift to provide a smoother, overall balanced look to the
eyes and face.
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation can enhance your appearance, improve your self-confidence, and broaden your ability to wear different clothing fashions by changing the shape and size of your breasts to better match your body style. Also, breast augmentation is used to rebalance a voluptuous figure, correct lost volume resulting from age or pregnancies, and balance asymmetrical breasts.
Breast Reduction
Large breasts
may cause a woman to potentially experience various medical problems
caused by the excessive weight of the breast tissue. Problems
with posture, skeletal deformities, back and neck pain, skin irritations
are common with this condition. Bra straps often leave indentations
in the shoulder area. With
breast reduction surgery, women of all ages are able to have breasts
that are better shaped and in proportion. In some instances,
liposuction can be used for breast reduction. The best candidates
for liposuction have good skin tone, nonfibrous breasts and desire
a 1-2 cup size reduction.
