Double chin is common in women and men and is caused by aging, genetics and weight gain. It detracts from an otherwise balanced and harmonious facial appearance, leading to an older, heavier look.
KYBELLA® is an FDA approved injectable treatment that aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat. When KYBELLA® is injected into the skin, the fat cell membrane is disrupted which causes the fat to dissolve.
Each minimally invasive procedure is performed in a 15-20 minute office visit during which tiny injections are placed into the fatty areas under the chin and jawline. Typically, 2 to 4 treatments are administered at 1 to 2 month intervals for optimal cosmetic effect. Results can be seen within weeks of treatment as the body naturally processes and permanently removes the destroyed fat cells, resulting in a more sculpted jawline.
We are recommending KYBELLA® for those with submental fat or double chins who do not desire more invasive treatment such as liposuction or facelifts. Non-invasive Ulthera® microfocused ultrasound therapy may be performed as an auxiliary treatment when further tightening and lifting of the jawline is desired.
